Chapter - 3: The Proposal That Changes Everything

Tanya's Perspective

Tanya sat in her office, her fingers resting lightly on her desk, though her mind was far from the designs spread before her. The hum of conversation outside her cabin, the soft clicking of keyboards, and even the gentle afternoon breeze filtering through the slightly open window did nothing to settle the storm within her.

An arranged marriage.

Not just with anyone, but with Avinash Malhotra.

Her parents had spoken about it so casually, yet the weight of it sat heavily in her chest.

"We've known them for years, Tanya. They're good people," her mother said.

"Veer, and I are close friends. It's a family we trust, and you also know them" her father had added, sipping his tea.

"It's just a meeting. Nothing more. Just meet him once, beta," her mother had insisted, her warm eyes pleading yet gentle.

"Tanya, we just want you to be happy, dear. If you decide this isn't the right match for you, we'll respect your decision. But we want you to keep an open mind."

"Mumma, Papa... do you really think he'll be a good fit for me?"

"We believe in you, sweetheart. You'll know when it's right."

Tanya had nodded, not out of agreement but out of sheer uncertainty.

But now, as she sat here, staring at nothing, a strange sensation curled inside her chest.

It wasn't anxiety.

It wasn't fear.

It was something quieter. Something that told her this was happening. That maybe, it was meant to happen.

The name Avinash Malhotra carried weight, power, and a reputation that made people stand straighter in his presence. He was known for his sharp mind, his ruthless decisions, and his ability to turn anything into success.

He was nothing like her. And yet, something about this didn't feel entirely wrong.

Her thoughts were interrupted by the loud entrance of her best friend.

"Tanya!"

She snapped out of her thoughts as Disha Sharma, her confidante, barged into her office.

Disha was the complete opposite of her-bold, outspoken, and unafraid to voice her opinions. She tossed her bag onto the couch, crossing her arms. "You're thinking about it, aren't you?"

Tanya sighed. "How do you know?"

"Because I've known you since college. That look on your face? That's your 'overthinking everything' expression."

Tanya hesitated. "Disha... I don't know if this is right for me."

Disha softened, pulling a chair closer. "I get it, Tanu. This is your life, and you've worked so hard for it. But listen to me just because it's an arranged setup doesn't mean you're giving up control. You're meeting him, not signing your entire life away."

Tanya exhaled deeply. "I just don't know if I want to get married at all right now."

"Then don't," Disha said simply. "But at least meet the guy. Worst case? He's an arrogant workaholic with no personality. Best case? He surprises you."

Tanya gave a weak smile. "He's Avinash Malhotra, Disha. I don't think he will give surprises ."

Disha smirked. "Even better. You love a challenge, don't you?"

Tanya laughed softly, shaking her head.

But deep down, something in her gut told her this wasn't just some casual meeting.

It was happening.

And it felt... right.

Avinash's Perspective

Inside his sleek office, Avinash Malhotra stood by the massive glass window, overlooking the city skyline. His hands were in his pockets, his face unreadable as he listened to Mayank Singh, his best friend and business partner.

"You're awfully quiet today," Mayank observed, leaning back in the chair across from him.

Avinash didn't reply immediately. His jaw tightened slightly as he thought about the conversation he had with his parents last night.

"We're not forcing you. We just want you to meet someone." his mother had said.

"She is a hard working and independent girl just like you. I've seen her at events where she carries herself with such grace and confidence, beta." his grandmother had said gently.

Marriage was something Avinash had never let himself think about too deeply. Not because he was against it, but because it had never felt relevant.

His life was planned down to the last detail. Marriage was not part of that plan not now, not like this.

And yet, for the first time in years, something about this entire situation didn't feel like an interruption.

It didn't feel wrong.

He had read about Tanya Anand before. She had built her own company from the ground up, carving a name for herself in the design industry. He respected people like that those who didn't wait for opportunities but created them.

There was something... something about this proposal, about the way his parents spoke of it, about the way his grandmother's voice had softened when she mentioned Tanya's name.

Something that made him feel like this was happening whether he fought it or not.

And that maybe-just maybe-he wasn't supposed to fight it.

"You're actually considering it, aren't you?" Mayank's voice pulled him back.

Avinash shot him a sharp look. "I agreed to meet her. That's all."

Mayank smirked. "Right. And you've been standing there, staring at nothing, because that doesn't bother you at all."

Avinash ignored him.

But as he glanced at his phone, the details of the meeting set in his schedule, he felt it again.

A strange, unshakable certainty.

This was happening.

And he didn't know why, but it felt... right.

So lovies,

What do you think of this chapter?

Tanya and Avinash might not say it out loud, but something inside them knows this isn't just a meaningless meeting.

Do you think this is fate? Or just two powerful people caught in circumstances beyond their control?

And more importantly-when they finally meet, will sparks fly... or will they clash?

Let me know your thoughts in the comments! Your feedback is very important to me.

See you in the next chapter!
